I believe Star Brand back issues may be about to climb in price. Certainly, the first issue likely is. An eBay seller has over the last several months sold three copies of Star Brand 1 in CGC 9.8 for about $100 each. He just listed his last copy for $139.99 OBO, which is $20 more than the previous three sold for. Those three were originally listed at $199.99 OBO, and all went for around $100-105. When CGC copies of a comic book rise in value, it can act to raise the value of raw (non-professionally graded) copies of that same issue. In other words, if Star Brand 1 in CGC 9.8 continues to rise in price, ungraded 9.8 candidates will naturally increase in value. It seems Star Brand running around in the 616 Universe, along with the Starbrand seemingly popping up seemingly all over the place in it could be making the original back issues increase in demand, and hence price.

STAR BRAND NUKES THE COLLECTORS MARKET WITH THE NEW! With the “Starbrand Reborn” storyline starting in Avengers with the November 20th issue, Star Brand continues to gain importance in the Marvel Universe, and his first issue continues to grow in value in professional grade. Although I don’t know what the best offer that was accepted was on this book, which sold this morning, knowing this seller I’d guess it was around $160. I’m just excited people seem to be realizing the importance of the New Universe. Watch for demand to heat up on raw, unslabbed copies of Star Brand #1 as well. I’m just so glad Star Brand is gaining in importance! Attachments:

Glad to see this spike in price & interest for the issue - and I'm glad I got one before it started to climb up towards $200 asking prices! Hopefully this is sustained beyond the current new Starbrand storyline in Avengers.

Also, I'd love to know where that particular seller has been scoring all these high grade copies!

Right. At 30+ years old, elite high grades are the exception and not the norm anymore. Also so much New Universe was quarter bin fodder for so very long, that makes these higher grades less common also.
